  • The Aircraft (Amendment) Bill, 2020 - The Aircraft (Amendment) Bill, 2020 was introduced in Lok Sabha by the Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri, on February 4, 2020. The Bill seeks to amend the Aircraft Act, 1934. The Act regulates the manufacture, possession, use, operation, sale, import, and export of civil aircraft, and licensing of aerodromes.

  • The Direct Tax Vivad se Vishwas Bill, 2020 - The Direct Tax Vivad se Vishwas Bill, 2020 was introduced in Lok Sabha by the Minister of Finance, Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman, on February 5, 2020. The Bill provides a mechanism for the resolution of pending tax disputes related to income tax and corporation tax.

  • The Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda Bill, 2020 was introduced in Lok Sabha by the Minister of State for AYUSH, Mr. Shripad Yesso Naik, on February 10, 2020. The Bill seeks to merge three Ayurveda institutes into one institution by the name of the Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda. The Bill declares the Institute to be an institution of National Importance.


  • The Mineral Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2020 was introduced in Lok Sabha on March 2, 2020. The Bill amends the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957 (MMDR Act) and the Coal Mines (Special Provisions) Act, 2015 (CMSP Act). An Ordinance with similar provisions was promulgated on January 10, 2020.

  • The Indian Institutes of Information Technology Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2020 was introduced in Lok Sabha by the Minister of Human Resource Development, Mr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ on March 4, 2020. The Bill amends Indian Institutes of Information Technology Act, 2014 and the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (Public-Private Partnership) Act, 2017.

  • The Companies (Amendment) Bill, 2020 was introduced in Lok Sabha by the Minister for Corporate Affairs, Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman, on March 17, 2020. The Bill seeks to amend the Companies Act, 2013.


  • The Rashtriya Raksha University Bill, 2020 was introduced in Lok Sabha by the Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Amit Shah on March 23, 2020. The Bill seeks to provide for the establishment of the Rashtriya Raksha University.

  • The National Forensic Sciences University Bill, 2020 was introduced in Lok Sabha by the Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Amit Shah on March 23, 2020. The Bill seeks to establish the National Forensic Sciences University.

  • The Banking Regulation (Amendment) Bill, 2020 - Co-operative banks are exempted from several provisions of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949. The Bill applies some of these provisions to them, making their regulation under the Act similar to that of commercial banks.


  • The Bilateral Netting of Qualified Financial Contracts Bill, 2020 was introduced in Lok Sabha on September 14, 2020. The Bill seeks to provide a legal framework for bilateral netting of qualified financial contracts which are over-the-counter derivatives contracts.

  • The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020 - This Bill replaces the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020.

  • The Epidemic Diseases (Amendment) Bill, 2020 was introduced in the Rajya Sabha on September 14, 2020. It amends the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897. The Act provides for the prevention of the spread of dangerous epidemic diseases. The Bill amends the Act to include protections for healthcare personnel combatting epidemic diseases and expands the powers of the central government to prevent the spread of such diseases. The Bill repeals the Epidemic Diseases (Amendment) Ordinance that was promulgated on April 22, 2020.


  • The Indian Medicine Central Council (Amendment) Bill, 2020 was introduced in Rajya Sabha on September 14, 2020. The Bill amends the Indian Medicine Central Council Act, 1970. The Act provides for the constitution of a Central Council which regulates the education and practice of the Indian Medicine system (includes Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy). The Bill replaces the Indian Medicine Central Council (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020 which was promulgated on April 24, 2020.

  • The Homoeopathy Central Council (Amendment) Bill, 2020 was introduced in Rajya Sabha on September 14, 2020. The Bill amends the Homoeopathy Central Council Act, 1973. The Act sets up the Central Council of Homoeopathy which regulates homoeopathic education and practice. The Bill replaces the Homoeopathy Central Council (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020 which was promulgated on April 24, 2020.

  • The Salaries and Allowances of Ministers (Amendment) Bill, 2020 - This Bill replaces the The Salaries and Allowances of Ministers (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020.


  • The Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020 - This Bill replaces the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Ordinance, 2020 .

  • The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020 - This Bill replaces the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Ordinance, 2020.

  • The Salary, Allowances and Pension of Members of Parliament (Amendment) Bill, 2020 - This Bill replaces the Salary, Allowances and Pension of Members of Parliament (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020.


  • The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Second Amendment) Bill, 2020 was introduced in Rajya Sabha on September 15, 2020. It amends the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016. The Code provides a time-bound process for resolving insolvency in companies and among individuals. Insolvency is a situation where individuals or companies are unable to repay their outstanding debt. The Bill seeks to temporarily suspend initiation of the corporate insolvency resolution process (CIRP) under the Code. It replaces the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020 promulgated on June 5, 2020.

  • The Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2020 was introduced in Lok Sabha on September 20, 2020. The Bill amends the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010. The Act regulates the acceptance and utilisation of foreign contribution by individuals, associations and companies. Foreign contribution is the donation or transfer of any currency, security or article (of beyond a specified value) by a foreign source.

  • The Jammu and Kashmir Official Languages Bill, 2020 was introduced in Lok Sabha on September 22, 2020. It seeks to declare certain languages as official languages of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
